The Martin Luther King (MLK) Library is located at:

901 G St NW, Room 215
Washington, DC 20001-4531

Schedule

Below is a breakdown of the schedule and how the meeting will unfold. Would greatly appreciate it if you can make sure you are on time so we can get started on time.

6:30 PM - 6:45 PM - Welcome everyone.

6:45 PM - 8:00 PM - This month's Accessibility DC meetup will have a talk by Aaron Jorbin and John F. Croston III demo of his event registration prototype web application.

BIO:

Aaron Jorbin is an engineer with Clearspring http://clearspring.com/ where
he works on AddThis http://addthis.com/ and aWordPress Core
Contributor http://wordpress.org/.
He has spoken to multiple User Groups and at WordCamps in four time zones.
When he's not busy creating and fixing bugs, Aaron helps run an educational
simulation conference for over 1500 college students. He'll gladly toast to
the GPL any day of the week and happily will discuss whisky, quality beer,
or the upper peninsula of Michigan with anyone that wants.

DESCRIPTION:

When working for a technology startup, you have to decide on priorities.
Often, accessibility is something that ends up at the bottom. This is the
story of how we moved accessibility up in our priorities and the decisions
and sacrifices we made that resulted in over nine million websites becoming
more accessible. In the end, I hope that you will learn how to get better
organizational buy in for accessibility so even if it's only one site that
is better off, your users are better off.

John F. Croston III will be doing a small demo of his prototype event registration web
application to get feedback from the audience about the work flow, accessibility, any
suggestions, etc.

8:00 PM - 8:30 PM - Closing remarks, clean-up, and information about after event wanderings. We will also be looking for more ideas of what talks people want to here and/or give for the next meeting.

Talk Ideas

We are always looking for people or even groups to lead a discussion or presentation about anything accessibility related for the group. Please contact info@accessibilitydc.org with any talk ideas you would be willing to do.

Thanks,
